The air has been really crisp this weekend adjusting to the change requires us to be more open. Open to the earth, to others, but most important to ourselves. Hip openers allow us to open physically as well as mentally. Half pigeons are my favorite!! Do them with your practice any time opening awareness to what we do & do not need to create space for beauty & positivity in our lives....

Now that I am teaching more classes, I need to plan better what I am teaching as to not be repetitive.
My unique style of Vinyasa is that I usually modify the classes to fit the needs of the majority of the students. I feel the class, feel what it needs, feel what their level is and then decide what and how to teach my class. I do not want to be teaching the same beginner moves, to the same students and need to start a recording method of what I am teaching and where :) I am actually very excited this morning about this endeavor and cant wait to get started!!!! I am teaching this morning in DC at Monroe Street Market. I LOVE this space and the energy of the neighborhood. Today, I will see how it goes and then come back and blog about it!! BOOM!! If ANYONE wants to join class in DC, let me know!! Id be happy to invite you and the management team would love to show off the beautiful space!!! The ONLY thing that remains constant is change.
There is a change of seasons that is constantly inevitable. Sometimes these transitions are hard to endure and the human mind is reluctant to let go of the past and things that were once a stable and brought joy. Be open and let new things in, be open to find happiness in people and things that surround you. Appreciate the past, appreciate the now, and be open to new things for your future. Storms can bring cleanliness and flowers not just rain. Whenever I substitute another teachers class I begin with anxiety wondering if I'm going to teach a class that will like me. Will they like my vinyassa style? Will they enjoy the pace? Should this be a light class or a power class? To help me calm, I meditate at the front of the class. I feel the class, I let the auras of the students sink in. I listen to their conversations, I listen for laughter and lightness. I also listen for silence. Then I simply be me, let the mood take over and modify the class to fit the students. I have never been disappointed. We are all amazing, but without fear and without trying new things, we will never know our capabilities, our greatness, our joys and our weaknesses. Substituting class enables me to do what I sometimes ask my students to do. Step out of your comfort zone, try something new, you never know unless you try. :) |
